Along the Lower River des Peres

I traveled from the mouth of the River des Peres, starting by heading up Marceau Avenue, where I spotted some old houses while still in Carondelet.

I crossed over the River des Peres on Alabama Avenue onto the south side of the drainage ditch and proceeded up Carondelet Boulevard.

Of course, Alabama Avenue becomes Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis County, and all sorts of roads diverge at what was a subdivision originally name Luxembourg back in the Nineteenth Century.

Consequently, there are a fair number of houses from the 1800s in this area.

There are a huge number of Cape Cods along the river, as suburbia arrived after World War II and the last open space in the City filled in.

The boulevard hugs the City-County line through here, and to the west is Affton; I believe this apartment building is actually outside of St. Louis by a few feet.

New St. Marcus Cemetery is located on the northwest corner of Gravois and River des Peres Boulevard.

We then reach Lansdowne Avenue near Shrewsbury.

The MetroLink tracks come to an abrupt end!
